Doubtfull - some of the realities we faced when we left the org are hurtful, but the blessings often far outweigh what initially hurt us. I wish you and yours greater contentment in your new life.

new york—threatened with an imminent ban on their worship in russia, jehovah’s witnesses are responding with a direct appeal to kremlin and supreme court officials for relief through a global letter-writing campaign.
Considering the huge political problems which the Kremlin has on its plate, does anyone know the motive & who is behind this campaign to liquidate this apparently inconsequential cult in Russia? Who will gain from it?
Maybe Putin has more intel about the POTUS's son-in-law's dealings with the WTBTS than we do! :)
it occurred to me this morning while one the train to work that jw's, including my family, use the following weasel phrases to excuse the errors they've made over the years:.
"god uses imperfect men".
"jesus didn't say he'd give perfect spiritual food".
"God uses imperfect men", "Jesus didn't say he'd give perfect spiritual food", "The GB are neither inspired, nor infallible", "There are some who are corrupt but Jehovah will sort out his organization".
Spot on Pale Emperor! I was discussing these J.W. "justifications/conversation stoppers" with Mrs. Searcher recently, as well as the one at the top of their list, "No other religion is fulfilling Matthew 24:14, so that proves that we are God's people."
If they do a Google search, they'll find out differently.

i am in search of recent articles in the watchtower, or in other articles that are available on jw.org, that explain that one has to be part of the organisation as a condition for salvation.. i can only find articles on sites other than jw.org that are from before the year 2000. .
it is for discussions with a jw, so i can only use things from jw.org.. thanks in advance.

by now it seems obvious that the gb and other leaders of the wtbs are corrupt.
the pedo scandal and various financial schemes are sustained by either lack of concern or greed at the top.
my question is how far down the food chain does this go?
Two classes of elders in my view:
1) I have a relative who is a dyed-in-the-wool J.W. elder, and trusts the org implicitly. Totally loyal & blinded.
2) Elder who has seen and learned so much that he seriously & privately rejects many of the org's changes and teachings, but can't/won't exit for personal reasons; loss of family/friends, position in the congregation, or the old chestnut - "where else can we go?"
this week all congregations in australia have been instructed to make the following announcement:.

As far as I'm aware, the congregations in the U.K. used to be obliged by law to display a copy of their insurance certificate on the Kingdom Hall notice board. (Of course that changed when the org decided to take the insurance premiums and insure the properties themselves)

Pity they couldn't count up between 32 & 35 - then they could've got the chapters of the Bible book of Numbers in sequence in their updated, inaccurate/corrupted "silver sword" translation. (see chapter headings on pages 266 & 267)
i am just curious.. i have a cousin who is a baptist and his church streams their sunday services and i've been checking them out before i go to meeting with my jw wife.. i haven’t been to a church except for the occasional funeral and wedding and the only sermons i had heard were the tel-evangelist type.
anyway, all the church bashing by jws over the years made me unsure what to expect and i was pleasantly surprised.
they do use the bible and they don't spend the whole time begging for money.
